Announcing JSI/NETCAPP's first online course developed in collaboration with the Region I Title X Family Planning Training Center:

Inside the Adolescent Brain:
New Perspectives for Family Planning Providers

The course will be available online beginning March 16, 2009.

What is JSI e-Learning?
JSI e-Learning is the new online course management system from JSI. This system allows you to easily access and manage your online learning opportunities and helps us to better track registration, evaluation and CEU information, and provide high quality online learning.

The system will house Inside the Adolescent Brain and future courses developed by the Training Centers. It will also provide access to the Family Planning Training Centers archived webinars that were previously available on famplan.org.


Who should take this course?
This course is intended for Title X providers, including family planning clinicians, counselors and new staff, as well as school and community-based staff working with adolescents to prevent unplanned pregnancy, and STIs including HIV.

Join us for a brief introductory webinar on March 16 from 12:00pm-12:30pm that will help you get acquainted with the JSI e-Learning system and provide you with tips for navigating the resources. What is the purpose of the course?
Course participants will:

1. Develop a general understanding of brain changes occurring during adolescence that help to explain characteristic adolescent behavior;
2. Understand the difference between puberty and adolescence and the interplay between sexual and neurological development;
3. Gain greater insight into adolescent risk-taking behaviors and decision making; and
4. Consider more effective approaches for counseling and educating adolescent clients.

 

How long will the course take to complete?
The course is estimated to take 2 hours, start to finish.  You may start and stop the course as many times as you want.  The system will bookmark where you left off.


Are CEUs available?
Yes, participants are eligible for 2.0 hours of continuing education through the New Hampshire Nurses Association.  Directions for requesting CEUs is included in the course.


What is the cost of the course?
